A Nazarbattu kali face is a deeply rooted symbol in Indian folk traditions, believed to protect against buri nazar (the evil eye) and negative vibrations. The face is typically small and dark — usually painted black because black is thought to absorb harmful energy. Its features are intentionally exaggerated large, bulging white eyes outlined in black, a crooked smile or grimace showing uneven teeth, a broad nose, and sometimes even small horns or bright red lips to add a fierce touch.
